The Girls, a Poem from my book, Poetic Reflections: A Compilation of Poems (2009)

The girls are my girls,

my best friends,

the ones I depend

on through the thick

and thin of life.

Beside me they stand,

together we fall,

as if chained together.

We have each other’s backs

no matter what goes on.

We fight each other’s battles

and are ready to go to war if

one of us are mistreated

or hurt.

We cry, laugh, and reminisce

together. We are able to face

obstacles head on

because we know we will

always have each other.

Better than friends,

more like sisters, sharing a

common relative-like bond,

while growing stronger as

women, mothers, and individuals

in this cold world,

my girls.
